The first cake, the practice cake that might have saved us. When it was placed into the pan the pan wasn't greased well enough so when it was removed it broke into pieces along with it being not fully baked.
A picture of sawyer prepping our next batch of batter.
Our first cakes, both fully baked and stackable to start decorating and getting a general shape down.
Compared the practice cake, we used parchment on the bottom of the pan to prevent the cakes from falling apart when they were getting taken out of the pan.
The first parts of the design starting to actually come together. The centerpiece of our cake was chosen to be a whale shark.
The layer directly underneath the shark (named Jerry) is supposed to be like water.
Beneath the water goes to a sandy layer, below that a layer of dirt. Like the ocean floor.
The product of the cake.
We chose to make it for a childrens birthday party (we are the children)
The writing on the top is for sawyer whose birthday is December 8th.
This was the original idea for the cake but we thought it looked a little bland.
So we figured we should add something else for colour and to just generally add to the cake.
Starfish was our answer, they look a little funny but I think that's half the fun.
